On Saturday September 27 we met with the children at the orphanage for their back to school bash. We raised the volume on the radio and a moment of fun with shaved ice donated by E.C.E.M., cupcakes sponsored by Jennifer Noissette, Cheetoes donated by Parc Pierre Louis. We distributed book bags donated by the Office Depot Foundation through Habitat for Children Ministries to the kids. Many of them carried their bags over their heads and were very happy to have a bag.
Then the girls gathered to try, pick and receive shoes that fit them gathered through the Happy Feet Project organized by Tania Francois. To witness their joy while picking and trying shoes is priceless and a blessing. I hope others will continue to make shoe donations for our kids. All in all we had a great time as we opened the 2014 – 2015 school year. The excitement and fun continued as we gathered again on Wednesday October 1 to distribute shoes this time to the boys. These shoes were donated by the caring children at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and School.
In their own precious voices watch and listen our children say “Merci” “Thank you”
We thank all our sponsors for their support we had a successful event thanks to them:
On Saturday September 27th, Pennies for Haiti will be hosting the “2014 Back to School Bash”. School officially started in Haiti on September 8 and it’s now time for us to distribute all the donated book bags and shoes to our children. We are truly grateful for all the hard work dedicated to making this event a success. We would like to thank our sponsors for their donations:

Over the summer a friend suggested we ask the children what they needed most; unanimously they answered “shoes.” As the school year started I realized I was not going to fulfill that request. But someone else knew He would. So I thank God for providing for the children; truly a blessing. While writing this post the “Happy Feet” project received from St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and School a donation of book bags and 350 shoes!!! OH WOW!!! we received more shoes than we could have expected…the kids will be overjoyed!!!
On behalf of the board of directors, I would like to thank our sponsors and volunteers for their continuous support. We are excited for the children as they head back to school. We believe in the principle that a child in school is hope for a better future. We are wishing all of our kids a successful 2014 – 2015 academic school year. Stay tuned for pictures…
Please support the”Back to School” project by making a donation at the below link. Education is not entirely free in Haiti; many parents pay at times three times their monthly salary to enroll their child(ren) in school. September is a tough month for so so so many parents in Haiti. The need is real…thank you for your support.
Our mission this year was to ensure that our kids had a great Christmas…by all counts from “Nwel Pou Timoun” to Christmas day giveaway…Mission accomplished!!! I now know I had to be here…thank you God for directing my life and thank you to all our donors. May your day be abundantly blessed…Merry Christmas to all from all of us at Pennies for Haiti!
I don’t know too many people that would be happy to go to work on Christmas day…but I am. Next stop the orphanage with 74 hopefully eager children. The sleigh is packed…we thank R. Hermann and Parc Pierre-Louis for the toys, CC for the bike, FELB for the turkey, and all our sponsors and corporate donors for their support and donation. Today, is the day we have worked all year long to accomplish…from the bottom of my heart thank you!!! May your Christmas be abundantly blessed.
Today is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice…the kids are at Parc Pierre-Louis and we are set to have a fun day…stand by for pictures!!! Merry Christmas and thank you to all our sponsors for making this day a reality. Our sponsors…R. Hermann, Parc Pierre-Louis, FELB, Brasserie Couronne, and all our donors.
As the day progressed we found out for many of the kids in attendance this was their first exposure to face painting, bounce house (one child asked for to explain the rules of a bounce house…just get in and start jumping), and let’s not forget the expression on their faces as they tasted cotton candy for the first time…amazing!!! So next year we will do it all over again…
